Political Systems Project emerged out of 20+ years of engaging with – and far too often being disappointed by – social movements in India. Constantly bemoaning the rise of neo-fascist forces around the world is not an adequate response to the foremost challenge of our times. Right wing extremism running rampant around the globe must be blamed on the failure of centrist and leftist forces to check its growth. It is possible to not let this criticism from within turn into a useful tool in the hands of the opportunist right.
Woefully, such much-needed self-reflection is not received well within self-aggrandising progressive spaces where it is dismissed as a sign of falling prey to right wing propaganda.
Political Systems Project was founded to demonstrate that constructive criticism of the center and the left can and must go hand in hand with an uncompromising fight against the right, while simultaneously working towards better political systems that can replace the crumbling model of the Left, Right, and Center trifurcation of politics.
