ABOUT

Political Systems Project is envisioned as a pro-people, pro-constitution political reform project.

The use of political consultants, data analytics, and technology has significantly changed Indian politics. This professionalisation of political parties and campaigns has not necessarily given us a more pro-people polity. In fact, most of these services have been used to strengthen the authoritarian right wing in India. On the rare occasions when these services have been of use to progressive forces, it has either been in situations where they were already poised to succeed or where they were allowed to temporarily succeed by a regime that has captured all the institutions of the Indian state.

Indian civil society has largely failed in making any meaningful intervention to stop this concerted effort to drive Indian politics and governance away from citizen-centric constitutionalism.

Political Systems Project was launched as an attempt to devise actionable strategies that could help progressive Indian political parties, concerned citizens, and social movements save the Indian state from being fully captured by the authoritarian right.

Political Systems Project is an initiative of The Change Project. While there is an urgent need for political reforms and safeguarding democracy globally, Political Systems Project is currently focused on India alone.
